Great place to learn the history of the dam, and see it up close. There is a nice gift shop and you can access the walkway over and around the dam. It's really a beautiful location!
The Flaming Gorge Dam Visitor Center had souvenirs, bathrooms, plenty of parking (trailer parking options), shaded picnic tables, many fishing spots, and a few walking trails that are dog friendly. The visitor center is not pet friendly. The Flaming Gorge and Flaming Gorge Dam area was very beautiful. I had a wonderful time kayaking here!
The drive up through the scenic bi-way was gorgeous! The visitor center was clean, informative and very interesting! The dam could be walked over and had multiple look-out points of beautiful scenery.
There's a small theater with several movie selections that provide history and tourist information as well as a nice gift shop and information center. There's an elevator and walkway that lets you cross to the river side of the dam. We really enjoyed our visit!
Spectacular beauty and similar landscape to Lake Powell area. The town of Vernal has a lot more in terms of nice hotels, stores for your needs, and activities to find your adventures. There are gas stations on route and a good BBQ food truck at the visitor center. You can also eat at any of the lodges/resorts on the route.
Monica at The visitor center was exceptionally helpful in locating suitable camping for me. She helped me to determine what areas had dispersed camping.
The folks at Flaming Gorge Barbecue truck do a terrific job and set me up with the perfect picnic for dinner time. Pulled pork sandwich, Fresh House made coleslaw, flight of sauces, chipotle honey mustard, Kansas City barbecue, and traditional barbecue.
Does a great job of keeping the lake full of water and generates power at the same time
Disappointing that the tours haven't resumed-covid doesn't need to last forever
The restroom was interesting. One cubicle looked like it was for naughty people, with a lock on the door, and I wasn't really sure how I should use what I think was a urinal
Should I sit on it? Stand and pee in it?
The video presentation in the theatre seemed very dated. When the the presenter said, "We're going to start…" I thought she was going to continue, "…back in 1983"
It was nice to see the inner workings, even if it was via a standard definition DVD
Breathe taking views of the canyon. Went to the visitor center on the south east, not to much to buy as far as t shirt or cups. They don't have much selection. If your driving down the mountain from Vernal, Utah I suggest you go on the west side to tour. Alot of beautiful place for scenic view. RED CANYON was one of my favorite. Omg...its so beautiful. Some of the place at that park have no fence so I suggest you be extra careful. Most of all take as many Dam pictures as you want. 🤣🤙enjoy.
